The Black Lives Matter protests in the summer of 2020, due to the unjust murder of George Floyd, my Black, Latin & Latin X, and Indigenous students expressed the systematic racism and inequities they experienced at the majority white institution they studied and lived in. As a response, I created "BLACK LIVES MATTER FOR QUEER, FEMMES, & TRANS FOLX" to express my fear and frustrations of Black LGBTQIA being erased from the conversation surrounding police brutality.
